Joya Artist Residency
I stayed two weeks at Joya AiR which is in a natural park in Andalusia. The first week was full of excursions into nature and collecting objects from the area. Influenced by the landscape and by the other artists, my work was affected by the surroundings in the second week. Surrounded by so much clay soil, it was natural to make clay myself. It was lengthy process but created a bond with the material. Luckily, I had the chance to bake the clay inside the wood fired heating boiler of the house. The firing process felt very natural and it affected the look of the baked clay.
